Foundations of Human Sociality & Neuroeconomics
In this focus, we investigate various routes underlying a better understanding of other people. We distinguish between a socio-emotional route sub serving social emotions such as empathy and compassion on the one hand, and another socio-cognitive route supporting mentalizing and perspective taking abilities on the other hand. These different pathways rely on different neuronal brain networks that in turn support human prosociality and cooperation.
